\"Computer\"<\/a>There are many great real estate sites online. \u00a0First, there are the usual suspects. \u00a0Sites like Realtor.com<\/a>, Zillow<\/a>, Trulia<\/a>, FSBO.com<\/a>, ForSaleByOwner.com<\/a>, and more. \u00a0But the\u00a0internet is vast… there are a lot more quality sites out there!<\/p>\n

So we wanted to shine the light on a few excellent resources\u00a0that can help you with your home.<\/p>\n

1. \u00a0Rentometer.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a great real estate site for rentals. \u00a0It is simple and easy to use, and provides local rent numbers for just about everywhere in the country (including Grand Rapids). \u00a0Why is this useful?<\/p>\n

First, if you’re looking for a place to live, this resource can help you\u00a0figure out if your rent is fair. \u00a0They provide a nice range of prices, and indicate what is high and low for a given area. \u00a0You can quickly see if you’re getting a great deal.<\/p>\n

\"Rentometer\"This can also help you figure out which parts of town you can afford, and where you should focus your search efforts. \u00a0The map feature is very nice, and shows you exactly where the comparable rents are being pulled from.<\/p>\n

A word of caution – remember that some of the lower priced properties might\u00a0be in worse condition or have fewer features. \u00a0So make sure to do some extra ‘on the ground’ research as well.<\/p>\n

If you’re looking to purchase a rental property, this site can help you determine your\u00a0potential income. \u00a0Since Rentometer provides a ‘reasonable rent’ range, you can estimate\u00a0what you might earn with a particular home.<\/p>\n

2. Realquest.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is an excellent resource if you are looking to purchase a home. \u00a0It provides estimated values for houses, comparable properties, neighborhood information, and more.<\/p>\n

\"RealQuest\"<\/a>Our favorite part of this site is the HomeStandings reports. \u00a0This provides a quick breakdown of a house from multiple angles. \u00a0It will tell you about the home’s previous sale price, potential purchase prices, growth rates, the number of rentals vs. owner occupied homes, and more.<\/p>\n

For $12, that is quite a deal!<\/p>\n

Realquest Professional is fee-based, and is on the pricier side (but worth it\u00a0if you deal with homes regularly). \u00a0However, if you just need information occasionally, Realquest Express will\u00a0work well for you. \u00a0This includes some free\u00a0information, and you can pay for extras on an a-la-carte basis.<\/p>\n

\"HomeAdvisor\"<\/a>3. HomeAdvisor.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

For repairs and rehabs, you should definitely check out HomeAdvisor. \u00a0This is one of many real estate sites that offer cost estimates, HomeWyse.com<\/a> being another good one.<\/p>\n

We like HomeAdvisor, because it sets your costs based on your zip code, and provides a nice range for projects. \u00a0Check out the True Cost Estimator… everything is laid out very clearly, and you can gather data on different\u00a0projects quickly.<\/p>\n

Be aware… every project is different! \u00a0These sites should only be used as a reference, not a ‘carved in stone’ estimate. \u00a0The best way to get an accurate price is to have multiple contractors come and quote the job. \u00a0However, if you just need to know, roughly, how much a project costs in your area, this is a great resource.<\/p>\n
